The Blonder Tongue AQT Transcoder is a modular unit that receives either an 8VSB (Off-air Digital) or QAM (CATV Digital) signal, and transcodes it to any CATV QAM channel. The transcoding enables televisions with QAM digital tuners to seamlessly view the 8VSB Off-air digital signals on cable television frequency assignments without having to change the television tuner input from CATV mode to Off-Air mode. The input digital signal is stripped of it’s original digital modulation (8VSB or QAM), leaving just the basic data stream. The Blonder Tongue AQT then creates a new, clean QAM carrier and reinserts the original data stream on to this new QAM carrier. If the original channel was encrypted, it will remain encrypted, if the original channel was in the clear, it will remain in the clear. The only modification to the original data stream that is performed is changing the data rate when converting an 8VSB signal to a QAM signal. This rate change is done via Null Packet processing and does not affect the encryption in any way.

The Blonder Tongue AQT8-IP transcoder allows the user to build a custom channel lineup via IP output by selecting input programs from 8VSB (Digital off-air) or QAM (Clear digital cable) formats. The unit provides a combination of SPTS and/or MPTS IP output across eight (8) IP addresses. The AQT8-IP features Emergency Alert System (EAS) program switching through either an ASI or IP format EAS input and terminal block contacts for triggering. Comprehensive remote monitoring and control is accomplished using any standard Web browser via a rear-panel 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection.
The Blonder Tongue AQT8-QAM transcoder allows the user to build a custom channel lineup via IP output by selecting input programs from 8VSB (Digital off-air) or QAM (Clear digital cable) formats. The AQT8 maps QAM/8VSB input programs directly to QAM output channels. The AQT8-QAM features Emergency Alert System (EAS) program switching through either an ASI or IP format EAS input and terminal block contacts for triggering. Comprehensive remote monitoring and control is accomplished using any standard Web browser via a rear-panel 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection.

Blonder Tongue HDE-8C-QAM for DIRECTV
The Blonder Tongue HDE-8C-QAM for DIRECTV (MPEG-2 HD Encoder: 8xComponent/Composite to 4xQAM) accepts up to eight (8) analog programs from any of the following inputs: 8xComponent and 8xComposite. The encoder is equipped with a spare input (9th input) to replace any one (1) of the primary eight (8) inputs in the event of a failure. The encoder digitizes, MPEG-2 encodes each input into a high-definition stream, multiplexes the resulting eight (8) streams, and then modulates them onto four (4) adjacent QAM channels in the 54-1002 MHz range (CATV 2-158). Any one (1) of the four (4) QAM outputs is also available in ASI format. The encoder (i) accepts eight (8) analog programs from DIRECTV Network’s H25-100 satellite receivers, (ii) automatically switches over to any of the primary eight (8) receivers in the event of failure to maintain the program stream, and (iii) provides remote monitoring and control of up to nine (9) DIRECTV Network’s H25-100 satellite receivers through UPnP protocol using a standard Web browser via a rear-panel 10/100Base-T Ethernet connection.
