The ARRIS APEX1000, ARRIS’s next-generation all-purpose edge QAM, provides flexibility, high availability, high QAM density, MediaCipher encryption, and low power in an extremely cost-effective 1 RU platform. Up to three removable and hot-swappable QAM modules can be installed in the chassis. Each module provides two RF ports, which support up to eight QAM channels each. Any of the 48 QAM channels available can be used for Video-on-Demand (VOD), Switched Digital Video (SDV), broadcast services, or DOCSIS high-speed data (through support for the M-CMTS architecture).

The Blonder Tongue DQMx (Digital QAM Multiplexer) accepts up to four inputs in ASI, 8VSB, and QAM formats, and delivers one output in QAM format in the 54-864 MHz range. Two types of input modules are available (ASI and 8VSB/QAM), and any combination of input modules is allowed- for example, DQMx can be equipped with 2 ASI and 2 8VSB/QAM input modules.Each ASI input module can process up to twelve channels, not to exceed 270 Mbps. Each 8VSB/QAM input module can process up to twelve channels, not to exceed 19.4 Mbps for 8VSB or 38.8 Mbps for QAM 256.
The R. L. Drake model DQT1000 is a professional quality, digital headend transcoder product that tunes and demodulates MPEG2 or H.264 encoded VSB or QAM modulated signals from an off-air broadcast or CATV source or accepts an ASI input source. After error correction, it remodulates and upconverts the recovered MPEG2 transport stream onto a new QAM modulated digital output channel. The standard Drake DQT1000 is supplied with two tuner/demodulators. The DQT1000 may also be special ordered with a single tuner/demodulator. For these units, a second tuner/ demodulator module is also available by special order. An optional ASI input module is also available as a field installable option. If a DQT1000 is configured with two tuner/ demodulators and an ASI input module, only Tuner/Demod A and one of the other inputs may be used and multiplexed at one time. These options may be added to the standard Drake DQT1000, all within the DQT1000 chassis. The output section of the DQT1000 consists of a QAM modulator with an agile RF upconverter with an output of up to 61 dBmV that tunes from 54 to 1002 MHz.
The R. L. Drake model MQM1000 is a professional quality, digital headend transcoder that accepts one or two MPEG2 digital inputs via two Asynchronous Serial Input (ASI) connectors. These signals must be ATSC compatible streams if multiplexing is to be performed and usually will have originated from a local TV broadcast station and may have been transported over fiber links to the MQM1000. After multiplexing and null packet management, theMQM1000 QAM modulates and up converts onto any desired CATV or off-air output channel between 54 and 1002MHz. The MQM1000 can also operate as a non-multiplexing QAM modulator when a single ASI input is selected.
The R.L. Drake model SCT2860 is a professional quality, modular, digital headend component providing QPSK or 8PSK input to QAM transmodulation and RF upconversion functions in a single module. Up to ten SCT2860 modules and a power supply module can be accommodated in the RMT150 rack mounting tray,occupying only a 2 unit (3.5″) high rack space. The SCT2860 can transcode DigiCipher II or DVB digital satellite signals, included those with advance turbo satellite FEC modes, outputting QAM modulation.
